I’ve only been here 7 days but it feels like I’ve been here a month!
Sweet Georgia, what a beautiful place. The peace I feel here is unexplainable. It feels like one big deep breath. Training camp so far has exceeded way beyond what I thought it would be like. From the moment I arrived to the base, it was evident that the people here are so deeply in love with Jesus. In wonder of him, like little children. It is a community of believers like no other. I wish I could convey what it really feels like to be here. Words don’t describe.
One of the sweetest things I’ve gone through so far is meeting my amazing squad. #Dbestsquad 🙂 It is really crazy how bucket showers, hammocks, the vending machine, tent sleepovers, and jelly and cheese sandwiches can bring you so close. I’ve been blown away by the people God has placed in my squad. I love each and every one of them so so much. We really are a family, and I can’t wait to spread the love overflowing in this group to so many more people across the world.
So what else have I been up to this week? Here’s a little glimpse:
I wake up in my little tent, surrounded by the sounds of nature (it really is the coolest thing). We spend almost every moment outside since that’s where we live 😂 My squad and I head to the dining deck (one of my favorite places at base) for some morning devotions and time to just sit in the presence of the Lord. I’ve been learning a lot more how to slow down and hear the voice of God. How to just be still and enjoy the wonder of my father. We worship the Lord a lot here. It is undignified, pure, wild, and peaceful all at the same time. I love ministering to God. It’s been one of my favorite parts. One night for about 10 minutes, we just sang the name of Jesus. There’s tears, there’s smiles, there’s laughter. The teachings and sermons we get to receive have been so impactful. They challenge your faith, your understanding of God, and really stir your spirit. It has been cool to talk to multiple different perspectives about different topics and get a greater picture of the body of Christ. We spend a lot of time in prayer collectively as a squad too. Meals are also some of the best times, and it has been a little funny with the portion sizes. I’ve never been more grateful for seconds. Other than worship, teachings, prayer, and food, we spend lots and lots of hours in quality time with our squad. This is where we enjoy the trusty bucket showers and bucket laundry, hammock convos, spikeball, spontaneous worship, guitar sessions, haircuts, and basking in the Georgia sun on the hill. It’s quite a life here in Gainesville. I wish all of you could experience it in person.
Something that has been new but so fulfilling here is the practicing of the Sabbath. I’m not going to lie, this week has been very exhausting and at times, draining. I’m starting to adjust to the schedule though, praise God. I’m so grateful that the Lord blessed us with this day of rest. “Live a life that is paced by the Sabbath” – a quote from one of our teachings. It really is so important. I encourage all of you to try and incorporate the Sabbath into your routine! See what the Lord will do 🙂
Jesus has been so kind. His heart beats with grace. My love for Him has simply grown so much deeper. I’ve learned that he is so overwhelmingly evident in every season, even the dry ones, we just have to recognize him. We just have to sit and look at his face. He lives in us, we are his masterpieces. It is beautiful. I adore my Father.
Thank you Jesus for this season I’ve entered.
